KBJR Building Destroyed By Fire

KBJR is the NBC affiliate in Duluth. Its building on West Superior Street was destroyed by a fire that started late on Sunday evening, December 14, 1997. The stations newsroom and offices moved to WDSE/8 (PBS) almost immediately, and, as of March 1999, they are still there. Master control is at the transmitter site in the Duluth antenna farm. KBJR is remodeling a building in Canal Park and plans to be completely moved in by June 6, 1999.

During the fire, on the Michigan Street side (Duluth News-Tribune) Barbara Reyelts broadcasts "Live at Five" from a repair room in the transmitter building on Monday (Duluth News-Tribune)
