Signal strength will vary due to topographic and atmospheric conditions, as well as the radio used. Typically, car radios, home stereos with external FM antennas, and high-quality AM radios should be able to receive all of the stations listed. Many lower-cost portable radios may only be able to receive the stations with three or more signal strength bars. Intermodulation of local FM stations may also prevent reception of distant FM signals. AM reception is severely limited by interference from electrical systems, TV's, computer monitors, and fluorescent light bulbs.

"City grade" signals are easily received on all TV's, while "grade B" signals require a rooftop antenna. (Keep in mind that low-power stations may only provide a city grade signal for a portion of the community in question. A city grade signal is listed if the stations' transmitter is located in the community, even if the entire community does not receive a city grade signal.)
