Second “Farm” Takes Root in Wisconsin

Posted on January 3, 2024January 30, 2024 by Jon Ellis

Mid-West Family/Clear Water Brands has brought “The Farm” to a second Wisconsin market.

WEAQ/1150 and W240DC/95.9 (Chippewa Falls-Eau Claire) has adopted the Classic Country/Ag News format, replacing “Jamz” Hip-Hop.

“The Farm” features ag news updates from the Mid-West Farm Report at the top and bottom of the hour. The hourlong Eau Claire edition of Mid-West Farm Report airs weekday mornings at 5 a.m. on sister station WAXX/104.5 (Eau Claire).

The station’s imaging is voiced by Bob Bosold, who has delivered farm information on WAXX since 1977.

Musical elements of the new format primarily compete with iHeartMedia’s “Moose Country 106.7” (WATQ Chetek-Eau Claire).

WEAQ transmits with 5kW daytime, reaching farm areas around Eau Claire, and drops to 46 Watts at night. W240DC’s 250-Watt signal is limited to the immediate Eau Claire area.

Mid-West has run a Madison version of “The Farm” on WHIT/1550 and W249DH/97.7 (Madison) since 2020.

The “Jamz” format had aired on WEAQ since W240DC launched in 2017.
