Sports Returns to Rhinelander as “Game” Expands

Posted on January 5, 2021 by Jon Ellis

Sports radio has returned to the small northern Wisconsin city of Rhinelander as iHeartMedia’s new statewide Sports network gains another affiliate.

NRG Media’s W267AF/101.3 and WOBT/1240 (Rhinelander) are now “The Game,” having dropped Classic Country. RadioInsight reports the switch came Monday, Jan. 4.

The new schedule includes the entire “Game” lineup, originating at WRNW/97.3 (Milwaukee), from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. FOX Sports Radio runs overnight and on weekends. WOBT also carries Rhinelander Hodag prep sports.

WOBT had previously carried ESPN Radio up until flipping to Classic Country in 2012, when it obtained the FM translator from a Christian broadcaster. The Classic Country format had been paired with NRG’s “Hodag Country 97.3” (WHDG Rhinelander).

“The Game” has been on a recent expansion and is now up to five markets.
