Southern Minnesota Station Returns to Country Roots

Posted on January 3, 2020 by Jon Ellis

Several years after flipping to Classic Hits, KKOJ/1190 (Jackson) has returned to its Country roots.

KKOJ and its FM translator, K249EO/97.7, became “True Country” on Thursday, Jan. 2.

The AM station had played Country from its 1980 sign-on until 2015, when it swapped formats with sister station KUXX/105.7. KUXX continues as “Extreme Country,” with KKOJ now playing Country songs from the 1980s to today.

“It’s a variety format. It gives you a little taste of everything kind of is what we’re going for here,” said Program and Operations Director Jason Jacobs.

The stations are owned by Community First Broadcasting.
